What’s in Your Water?: Stream Investigation
May 12, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
The Venango Conservation District is partnering with Oil Creek State Park to provide a fun and educational afternoon learning about aquatic stream species and their role in determining ecosystem health. Participants will learn how to sample and identify aquatic macroinvertebrates, test water quality, and determine best management practices for stream ecosystems.
Those who attend will receive their own stream study kit to take home! The event will take place at Oil Creek State Park’s Blood Farm Day Use Area (Google Maps Plus Code Address: F8Q7+C7C Rouseville, PA). We will meet at the picnic pavilion next to the parking area. This activity will be outdoors, so please dress for the weather. If creek conditions permit (i.e. water level and temperature), participants can enter the water during macroinvertebrate collection. Be sure to wear boots or old sneakers to walk in the creek. To register, please indicate “Going” on this event page. Questions can be directed to the Venango Conservation District office by calling (814) 676-2832 or emailing bkozalla.vcd@gmail.com
