Rocky Grove Fireman’s Fair
June 27, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Rocky Grove Fireman’s Fair returns to the fairgrounds outside the Rocky Grove fire hall.
The fair, which starts Tuesday and will run through Saturday, July 1, will bring with it this year its first demolition derby in addition to the usual round of events.
The fair will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 1.
Parking at the event cost $5 per car with no gate fee.
Attractions this year will include fireworks, a parade, a car cruise, lawn and garden tractor pulls and live music, as well as rides and craft vendors.
And new this year, the demolition derby by GSP Productions will be held Saturday, July 1, starting at 5 p.m.
The derby will be held on a new 150-by-75-foot track on the lower half of the property, which fair chairman and Rocky Grove firefighter Mike Cook said was built by McGregor Excavating with dirt materials from Vincent Excavating & Gravel and fencing materials donated by Penn Fencing.
Lawn seating will be available for spectators, and the pit area will open at 11 a.m.
Cook said the cost for the derby will be $40 for vehicle registration, $20 for the pits, and $10 for general admission, with proceeds benefitting the fire department.
Fireworks by Kellner Fireworks will also be held at dark on Tuesday, sponsored by Mike and Joyce Hughes.
On Wednesday at 6 p.m., a parade will make its way through the streets of Rocky Grove.
And on Thursday night, the fair will hold its second car cruise in the blacktop lot outside the fire hall, with music provided by EJ the DJ.
Friday will feature lawn and garden tractor pulls.
And on Saturday, in addition to the demolition derby, the band Rurally Bankrupt will perform from 7 to 10 p.m.
Cook said crafts and vendors will be set up outside along the midway and inside the large room of the fire station throughout the fair.
The fire department’s ladies auxiliary will serve hot sausage in the fire hall kitchen, and a fireman’s cook shack will serve up more food at the rear of the fairgrounds.
Amusement rides will be provided by Bartlebaugh Amusements.
The cost of a single ride ticket is $1.50, and 25 tickets will be sold at a price of $30 and 70 tickets for $70.
Armbands will also be sold for $20 that can be used for unlimited rides on a single evening at the fair.
Thursday night will be Buddy Night at which two armbands can be purchased for $30, and on Friday, the first 50 armbands sold will be half price.
