ORAS Virtual Public Night — the 2024 Eclipse Megamovie

FreeVirtual Public Night presentation by Gary Purinton: “The 2024 Eclipse Megamovie: Capturing Totality”
The presentation will include an explanation of eclipses in general, the April 8th total solar eclipse, and the challenges of photographing a solar eclipse. Mr. Purinton will also describe a nationwide effort to photograph totality from locations along the eclipse path, and to use the collected data to create a time-lapse video of the corona during the entire event. This project involves organizing and training volunteers to produce the images.

You will receive an e-mail with the Zoom link shortly before the presentation. Please log on about ten minutes early for a tech-check. There will be brief report on ORAS activities at the beginning.
ORAS member Gary Purinton is a retired science educator, having taught Earth and Space Science and Physical Science for 30 years in the public school system. He is also a former planetarium director, who currently volunteers at Penn West Clarion’s Donald D. Pierce Planetarium. Mr. Purinton is currently participating in the 2024 Total Eclipse Megamovie project.
