Magical Winter Poetry Workshop
December 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Winter is a time of miracles, of holiday celebration, of reflection of the year gone past and expectations of the year ahead. Join teaching artist Tracey Lander-Garrett in exploring poetry and prose that celebrates the coldest season in imagery, narrative, and metaphor. Our discussion will entail what makes our winter holidays magical and how to capture that sense of wonder in words. Our writing activity will essentially be a love letter to winter/the holidays. Free and open to adults, age 18 and up.
Tracey Lander-Garrett holds an MFA in Poetry from Brooklyn College and a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Connecticut. After thirteen years of teaching college English in the greater NYC area, Tracey moved to Central Texas where she taught Creative Writing for Austin Public Library. She has had poetry and prose published in Mid-America Poetry Review, Brooklyn Review, and Connotation Press, and is the author of a supernatural suspense series of novels. Tracey now lives in Oil City, PA with her husband and five recalcitrant cats.
