National Trails Day
June 1 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free“Find Your Adventure” at this year’s National Trails Day event on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m.
to noon, on the Queen City Trail in Titusville. This event, now in its sixth year, is hosted by the
Titusville Area Trails Association (TATA), part of Titusville Renaissance, Inc., with sponsorship
by the Crawford Health Improvement Coalition (CHIC).
National Trails Day features a free, self-guided showcase of displays and activities to enjoy at
your own pace along a ½ mile stretch of the Queen City Trail, part of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail.
The southern end begins at the Jersey Bridge trailhead near Drake Well and goes to the Ed
Myer Complex near the pickleball courts. Visitors may enter on either end to explore what the
event has to offer.
This year we are excited to welcome Smokey Bear for his 80th birthday. There will be a birthday celebration from 10-11 am with cupcakes and a performance of “Happy Birthday” by the Queen City Community Band. Depending on weather, Smokey will hold a meet and greet sponsored by the DCNR Bureau of Forestry – Cornplanter Forest Division. The 34-foot long Pennsylvania WoodMobile will also be onsite offering interactive activities and displays about Pennsylvania’s forests and sustainable forestry. The WoodMobile is operated by
the Pennsylvania Hardwoods Development Council in the Department of Agriculture and
sponsored by the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association.
In addition to these special guests, there will be activities for the whole family, including a
scavenger hunt, live music, Plein Aire (live) painting, birds of prey, and appearances by a
number of local recreation-related organizations.
At noon, there will be a raffle for a Blackstone 17” portable griddle and Mr. Heater Fuel Keg
refillable propane tank and refill kit donated by Titusville Tractor Supply. The cost is $5 per ticket or 3 for $10, with only 200 tickets sold. Tickets are available at Hawk’s Grocery & Smokehouse, Titusville Market Square, from any TRI board member, and at the event. This will be a rain or shine event. Association Facebook page.
