Content Creator & Community Engagement Intern

About Us: Be Here, an initiative of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, is dedicated to creating a positive narrative for the region by showcasing the many opportunities to live, work, and thrive in Venango County.
With support from a PA Humanities grant, we are implementing the Community Heart & Soul movement to amplify residents’ voices and shape the future of local communities through authentic storytelling and engagement.

We are seeking a creative and passionate individual to join our team as the Venango Heart & Soul Content Creator Summer Intern. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to craft digital content that highlights the people, culture, and stories of the region while making a lasting impact.

In this role, you will collaborate with the Be Here program manager to engage residents of Venango, helping to uncover what they love most about their community, their vision for the future, and how to bring that vision to life. Venango Heart & Soul is committed to fostering inclusive community engagement and celebrating the unique identities of the region through powerful storytelling.

Objective:
Develop compelling digital content that brings community stories to life through social media, videography, photography, and writing. Reports to the Be Here Program Manager.
●       Time Required: 24-28 hours per week (Summer 2025)

●       Compensation: $12 per hour

●       Location: 100 Seneca Street, Oil City
(Partial remote work available with occasional local travel required)
Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Management:
●       Oversee and grow social media presence by creating engaging and interactive content.

●       Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure consistent storytelling across platforms.
Content Creation & Storytelling:
●       Capture and share community stories through photography, videography, and written content.

●        Produce compelling blog posts that highlight the culture, values, and experiences of residents.

●       Stay updated on digital trends and best practices for content engagement.
Marketing & Promotional Materials
●       Design digital and print materials to support Heart & Soul initiatives.

●       Collaborate on branding efforts to maintain a consistent and impactful visual identity.
Event Coverage & Content Support
●       Capture live content (photos, videos, social media updates) at community events.

●        Work with the Heart & Soul team to create post-event recaps and highlight stories.
Recommended Skills:

Social Media & Digital Expertise – Strong interest and experience in managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Reels) to drive engagement and storytelling.

Content Creation Skills – Proficiency in photography, videography, and digital editing to produce high-quality multimedia content.

Community Engagement – Passion for connecting with the community, fostering relationships, and amplifying local voices.

Communication & Writing – Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and represent Venango Heart & Soul at public events.

Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides). Experience with CANVA, Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok bonus.

Public Speaking & Outreach – Comfortable speaking at community events and engaging with diverse audiences in a professional and enthusiastic manner.

Qualifications:

Education – Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., marketing, communications, journalism, community development, political science, or a related discipline).

Interpersonal Skills – Strong ability to connect with diverse audiences, including community members, volunteers, and stakeholders, with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Passion for Community Engagement – Genuine interest in storytelling, grassroots organizing, and empowering local voices

Adaptability & Availability – Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for community events and meetings
