Garlic Mustard Pull

May 8, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Garlic Mustard is a highly invasive plant that can be found throughout most of Pennsylvania. Chances are, you have seen this invader in your own back yard. It can also be found scattered throughout Oil Creek State Park. It crowds out native plants, including many of our ephemeral wildflowers, so it’s a great idea to get rid of it wherever you can.

Join the park naturalist to learn how to identify Garlic Mustard before heading out to pull as much as we can find. By the end of this program you should have the knowledge and confidence to start controlling it at home.

Gloves and bags will be provided. Face masks are required for all programming at Oil Creek State Park, and they must be worn for the duration of each program.

Spaces are limited, and registration is required. To register visit https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/garlic_mustard_pull#.YHme2p-Sm70 or call the park educator at 814.676.1810.

Bonus: Garlic Mustard is edible! The park naturalist may even share her favorite recipe with you. With that being said, you should never consume anything that you cannot identify with 100% certainty.
